Civil engineering is among the most important professions that provide direct solutions to humanity's fundamental needs. Meeting essential requirements such as shelter, transportation, water supply, and infrastructure constitutes the core areas of civil engineering. Our graduates are employed at national and international levels in the planning, design, and construction of residential buildings, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, tunnels, dams, airports, ports, water supply and wastewater systems, as well as renewable energy facilities. Due to its direct impact on human life, civil engineering is a highly valuable profession for society.

The Department of Civil Engineering at Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Engineering was established in 2011-2012 academic year and continues its educational activities with a young and dynamic academic structure. In evaluations conducted by TÜBİTAK among foundation universities, our department has ranked among the leading institutions.

Our education and research infrastructure is supported by Structural–Earthquake, Hydraulic, Geotechnical, and Construction Materials laboratories. These laboratories are among the most well-equipped in the country and are accredited by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.

Within our department, education is delivered through advanced software tools and practical applications in areas such as earthquake-resistant structural design, seismic performance analysis, numerical modeling of soil behavior, damage assessment, and structural strengthening. Our goal is to educate innovative, environmentally conscious, and ethically responsible engineers, preparing our students to meet both current professional demands and future technological challenges.
