Turkey holds a significant place among world cuisines with its rich culinary culture, geographical diversity, and deep-rooted gastronomic heritage. Preserving, developing, and passing on this valuable heritage to future generations is only possible through the training of
professionals who are experts in their field and equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills. Operating with this awareness, the Culinary Arts Program at Istanbul Aydın University Anadolu BİL Vocational School aims to train its students in accordance with the current needs of the sector and prepare them for their professional lives as successful culinary professionals of the future. Our program, which began its educational activities in 2015, adopts a contemporary educational approach that combines theoretical knowledge with practical training. Our curriculum is structured to provide students with knowledge and skills across a wide range of areas, from basic kitchen techniques to advanced cooking methods, from food safety and hygiene practices to menu planning, from cost control to sustainable culinary practices. Throughout their education, our students have the opportunity to work in professionally equipped practice kitchens and gain experience in environments close to real-world industry conditions. One of the main goals of our program is not only to improve our students' technical skills but also... It also aims to enable them to acquire competencies they will need in their professional lives, such as problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, communication, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning. In this context, we prioritize training our students to become individuals who follow sectoral developments, are open to innovation, research, question, and are productive. Sector collaborations and practical training processes, which are important components of culinary education, are among our program's priority areas of focus. Our students prepare for their professional lives through internships, technical trips, seminars, workshops, and events with sector representatives; they have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills they acquire during their education in real work environments. Thanks to this, our graduates possess the qualifications to be employed in hotels, restaurants, catering businesses, corporate kitchens, cruise ships, and various areas of the gastronomy sector. As Istanbul Aydın University, we aim not only to provide our students with a profession but also to cultivate individuals who are aware of their social and ethical responsibilities, uphold their cultural values, and can compete at an international level. Our program's academic staff, technical infrastructure, and practical opportunities continuously strive to provide an educational environment that supports our students' personal and professional development.
