Internal Medical Sciences

​Internal Medicine, also known as Internal Medical Sciences, is a broad discipline within the field of medicine that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. It is one of the primary specialties in the faculty of medicine and encompasses a wide range of medical conditions affecting various organ systems in the body. The Internal Medicine department in a medical faculty typically consists of physicians and medical professionals who specialize in this field. They are known as internists or internal medicine specialists. These professionals undergo extensive training to become experts in diagnosing and managing complex medical conditions in adults. Internal Medicine encompasses a diverse array of subspecialties, including but not limited to: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Hematology, Oncology, Geriatric Medicine.

  • Internal Medicine specialists are skilled in comprehensive medical evaluations, clinical reasoning, and the integration of knowledge from various specialties. They are often referred to as "diagnosticians" due to their expertise in identifying complex and challenging medical conditions. They play a crucial role in coordinating care for patients with multiple health issues, serving as primary care physicians or consultants for other specialists. In addition to clinical practice, Internal Medicine faculty members are actively involved in medical education, research, and scholarly activities. They contribute to advancing medical knowledge, training medical students and residents, and participating in research projects aimed at improving patient care and outcomes.
  • Overall, Internal Medical Sciences within the faculty of medicine plays a vital role in the healthcare system by providing comprehensive medical care, addressing complex diseases, and promoting preventive medicine to enhance the health and well-being of adult patients. Internal Medical Sciences lectures and practicals are completed alternately on campus, Health Application and Research Center Hospital and in leading Turkish teaching-research hospitals.

Almost every profession touches human life; in a sense, each profession involves helping another person. However, medicine is the only profession that directly serves individuals and aims to enhance the quality of life of someone who has lost the state of healthy living.
