Horizontal transfer is carried out between undergraduate programs within the same university, between domestic universities, or from universities abroad. The admission and registration procedures of students admitted through horizontal transfer are conducted in accordance with the relevant legislation. For students who transfer horizontally to the same department or program, the maximum period of study is calculated based on the year of their initial enrollment at their previous university. In cases where a horizontal transfer is made to a different department or program, the time spent at the previous university is not taken into account, and the maximum period of study starts from the year of enrollment at Istanbul Aydın University. Students who transfer horizontally are exempted from courses they successfully completed at their previous university that are deemed equivalent to courses in the new program. These courses are recorded on the transcript as compulsory transfer courses or elective transfer courses, together with the letter grades received, and are included in the cumulative grade point average.
Vertical transfer is implemented as the placement of students who have graduated from associate degree programs into undergraduate programs. The course adaptation procedures of students admitted to undergraduate programs through vertical transfer are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation. Exemptions are granted for courses taken during associate degree education that are equivalent to courses in the undergraduate program, and the semester from which the student will continue their studies is determined by taking these exemptions into account. Exempted courses are transferred to the undergraduate transcript together with the letter grades obtained during the associate degree period. The weighted cumulative grade point average of students who transfer vertically is calculated based on both the courses adapted from the associate degree program and the courses taken during undergraduate education. In programs taught in a foreign language or in departments with a compulsory foreign language preparatory class, students admitted through vertical transfer are required to pass the university’s foreign language exemption exam or successfully complete the preparatory class in order to begin their undergraduate studies. These students continue their education within the framework of the relevant provisions of Higher Education Law No. 2547.
