​​​Having been founded within the body of Istanbul Aydın University, National Security and Strategy Research and Application Center (USAM) aims to do research to form and maintain realistic security policies in accordance with Turkey's interests; to support these research projects and to educate specialists. As a center that maintains its continuity and follows national and global developments about Turkey's security, it is updated according to the conditions of time and it evaluates the country source objectively.

Contributing to the national accumulation in national security and strategy and raising public awareness about security are among its other targets. Also, it aims to contribute to the determination and development of Turkey's security policies by benefiting from regional and international developments and accumulations, and to contribute to its development as the center of attraction of scientific accumulation. USAM is structured according to the objectives and targets set out above and continues its works with volunteer experts taken charge in the research units formed under USAM's structure.
