Purpose
ARTICLE 1 – (1) The purpose of this Regulation is to regulate the procedures and principles regarding the objectives, activities, governing bodies, duties of the governing bodies, and the working procedures of the Istanbul Aydın University Africa Research and Application Center.
Scope
ARTICLE 2 – (1) This Regulation covers the provisions related to the objectives, governing bodies, duties of the governing bodies, and working procedures of the Istanbul Aydın University Africa Research and Application Center.
Basis
ARTICLE 3 – (1) This Regulation has been prepared based on subparagraph (2) of paragraph (d) of the first clause of Article 7 and Article 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, dated 4/11/1981.
Definitions
ARTICLE 4 – (1) The terms used in this Regulation mean:
a) President: The President of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Aydın University,
b) Advisory Board: The Advisory Board of the Center,
c) Center (AFRİKAM): The Africa Research and Application Center of Istanbul Aydın University,
ç) Director: The Director of the Center,
d) Board of Trustees: The Board of Trustees of Istanbul Aydın University,
e) Rector: The Rector of Istanbul Aydın University,
f) Senate: The Senate of Istanbul Aydın University,
g) University: Istanbul Aydın University,
ğ) University Executive Board: The Executive Board of Istanbul Aydın University,
h) Executive Board: The Executive Board of the Center,
expresses.
PART TWO
Objectives and Fields of Activity of the Center
Objectives of the Center
ARTICLE 5 – (1) The aim of the Center is to contribute to the national and international accumulation of knowledge on the political, economic, and social structure of Africa, Africa's place in world politics, and Turkey-Africa relations, to closely monitor ongoing studies, to strengthen relations with African countries through cooperation and joint work with relevant institutions and individuals, to contribute to increasing Turkey's potential role in Africa's future through studies evaluating Turkey-Africa relations on political, economic, historical, and cultural grounds, to train experts in these fields, and to provide consultancy services.
Fields of activity
ARTICLE 6 – (1) The fields of activity of the Center are as follows:
a) Conducting research on relevant topics and publishing them in Turkish and foreign languages for national and international audiences.
b) Organizing national and international conferences, congresses, symposiums, colloquiums, seminars, panels, and similar events.
c) Organizing certificate programs, courses, and similar programs in relevant fields.
ç) Developing projects through units established within the Center.
d) Preparing periodical publications of the Center.
e) Conducting joint studies in relevant fields with the contribution of the University’s academic units.
f) Providing consultancy services to public and private sector institutions as needed.
g) Cooperating nationally and internationally with other universities and public and private sector institutions.
ğ) Carrying out other activities related to its objectives.
