Social Services

Our department was established in 2015 and graduated its first cohort of students in 2017. Since social work is a practice-based field grounded in theoretical knowledge, great importance is placed on our students' field practicum experience. In the first year of their studies, within the scope of the on-site practicum course, students reinforce the factual knowledge they have acquired in the field through the practices they encounter in their practicum workplace. Our students continue with practicum courses in the second year of their studies as well. The internship they complete during summer terms also gives them the opportunity to combine their education with professional work life and gain experience.

Our program encourages student participation in social responsibility activities. The activities and projects organized for this purpose contribute to the development of social responsibility awareness. In addition, through seminars, conferences, training sessions in various fields, and similar events regularly organized by our program, importance is placed on enabling our students to meet with experts and access different career opportunities.

MISSION
The mission of the Social Services Program at Istanbul Aydın University Vocational School of Health Services is to train qualified social service professionals who have acquired the fundamental knowledge, skills, and values of the social work field; who act in accordance with the principles of human rights, social justice, ethical responsibility, and respect for differences; and who are able to support social workers and related professionals in service processes directed at disadvantaged individuals, families, groups, and communities.

The program aims to enable students to translate their theoretical knowledge into professional practice through on-site practicum, internships, social responsibility activities, and educational processes carried out with stakeholders.

VISION
The vision of the Social Services Program at Istanbul Aydın University Vocational School of Health Services is to be a pioneering associate degree program that follows national and international developments in the field of social services, continuously improves its teaching and learning processes, values practice-based learning, and trains qualified professionals with strong social responsibility awareness, commitment to ethical values, and high demand in the field.

The program embraces an educational approach that is responsive to the changing needs of the social services field, strengthens cooperation with internal and external stakeholders, and supports the professional development and lifelong learning processes of its graduates.
