Transfer Principles:
Horizontal transfer refers to student mobility between the same or similar programs at universities. Applications for horizontal transfer to the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Program at Istanbul Aydın University are evaluated according to the following principles:
Students must have successfully completed at least one semester at their current university
Grade point average (GPA) must be minimum 2.50/4.00 or 65/100
Horizontal transfer quotas are determined by the university senate at the beginning of each academic year
Applications are accepted twice a year (before fall and spring semesters)
Students with disciplinary penalties cannot apply
Academic performance, quota availability, and foreign language proficiency are evaluated during application
Leave of absence period counts toward total study duration
Vertical Transfer (DGS) Principles:
Transfer from vocational schools to engineering undergraduate programs is possible through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS):
Candidates who succeed in DGS and obtain sufficient scores from the relevant score type can apply
Graduates from related associate degree programs such as electrical, electronics, control and automation, computer technologies can apply
Registration procedures are conducted according to ÖSYM placement results
Students admitted through vertical transfer are adapted to the appropriate year according to their associate degree program
Education typically begins from the 3rd semester
Adapted courses are indicated on the transcript
Credit Transfer and Course Exemption Procedures:
Credit transfer is the process of adapting courses taken by students at previous higher education institutions to the current program:
Credit Transfer Criteria:
Courses must demonstrate at least 80% similarity in terms of content, credits, and learning outcomes
Courses must comply with accreditation requirements
Course grade must be at least CC (2.00/4.00) or 65/100
Course contents must be reviewed and approved by the departmental board
Exemption Process:
Student submits application form and course contents (syllabus) to department chair
Relevant course instructor and departmental board review the courses
Exemption decision is finalized by departmental board resolution
Exempted courses are shown with "Exempt" notation on transcript and not included in grade point average
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
This is the process of recognizing knowledge and skills acquired through non-formal learning pathways:
Recognizable Learning Areas:
Vocational certificate programs (PLC programming, AutoCAD, MATLAB, etc.)
Sectoral training and courses
National/international competitions and projects
Internships and work experience
Online certificate programs (Coursera, edX, Udemy, etc.)
Evaluation Process:
Student submits application form and supporting documents
Department's prior learning evaluation committee conducts review
If necessary, portfolio presentation or proficiency examination may be requested from student
Recognized learning can provide exemption equivalent to one course credit maximum
Total credit transfer and RPL credit cannot exceed 25% of the program
International Student Mobility:
Erasmus+ Programme:
Student exchange to partner universities in EU countries for one or two semesters
"Learning Agreement" is signed before exchange
Courses taken abroad are recognized through ECTS credit system
Successfully completed courses (minimum DD/50) are transferred
Mevlana Exchange Programme:
Exchange between Turkish universities and partner country universities
Conducted for one or two semesters
Academic recognition procedure is similar to Erasmus+
Double Diploma Programs:
Double diploma opportunity with partner foreign universities
Students meeting specified credit and course requirements receive diplomas from both universities
Obligation to fulfill requirements of both universities during the program
