Message from the Head of the Program

Dear Students,

The Drama and Acting Program is structured with a holistic educational approach that considers theatre not merely as stage practice, but as a field of intellectual, aesthetic, and social production. Our program's primary goal is to connect the historical accumulation of acting with contemporary approaches and current stage practices.

Throughout the four-year undergraduate program, our students acquire a versatile skill set through both theoretical and practical courses, including acting, movement, voice, improvisation, dramaturgy, and stage studies. While our educational process supports the development of individual talents, it also emphasizes collective creation and a culture of disciplined work. In this way, our students grow not only as performers who exist on stage, but also as thoughtful, inquisitive actors who bear artistic responsibility.

One of the core priorities of our program is to prepare students for professional theatre life while fostering the flexibility, creativity, and critical perspective demanded by contemporary artistic environments. Our faculty, composed of experienced academics and practitioners, guides students and keeps the learning process dynamic through workshops and stage applications.

We aim for our graduates to pursue their careers as conscious, productive individuals capable of responding to the demands of professional theatre and performing arts, and of expressing themselves across all areas of theatrical practice.

Sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Birkiye
