Supermoon

THE CLOSEST "SUPERMOON" OF THE CENTURY WAS OBSERVED ON NOVEMBER 14, 2016.

The moon was 15% larger and 30% brighter in total than its average on November 14th. The previous supermoon was observed in 1948. Since this year's supermoon will be bigger than the one in 1948, the biggest supermoon of the century will take place on November 14, and the next supermoon will be seen on November 25, 2034.

Istanbul Aydın University Observatory completed its preparations for this dreamy astronomical event. All our students and personnel will be able to watch the supermoon with naked eyes and telescopes in our Observatory as from 17:30 pm on November 14, 2016, Monday.

We recommend that those who will participate in the event should keep their thick clothes around.

The Observatory is on the terrace floor of the Block G.
