Objectives

In a globalizing world and in our country, which is in the process of European Union membership, the need for translators with competent oral and written translation skills is increasing day by day. Applied English Translation Program offers both theoretical and practical training for different business areas in order to use the foreign language effectively. It is possible for students to practice within the scope of collaborations with solution partners in Türkiye and abroad. The program aims to provide students with the necessary skills to become translators, to have knowledge about translation theories and to be able to apply them in practical life in terms of translation.

Targets

Graduates of this program have the knowledge and skills to translate literary works, scientific articles, newspapers and magazines, political, legal, economic, technical and other types of texts. Having these knowledge and skills means translating texts into the other language without disrupting the integrity of meaning and accuracy of expression, and checking the accuracy of the translations. In addition, the students/graduates should closely follow the major changes, developments and updates in his/her mother tongue and the foreign language they speak. These changes may be the result of social, cultural and technological developments. In order to be able to adapt to the translation processes that progress in parallel with the developing technology, students are required to use computer-based technological tools and programs at an adequate level.
