Horizontal transfer is a practice that allows students to transfer from one higher education program to
another. According to the regulations of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), horizontal transfers are
carried out in three different ways: intra-institutional transfer, inter-institutional transfer, and transfer
based on central placement scores (Annex-1). In intra-institutional transfers allow transfers between
programs within the same university, while inter-institutional transfers take place between different
universities. In transfers based on central placement scores under Annex-1, the score obtained by the
student in the year of placement is taken as the basis. Our university and department adhere to the
regulations regarding student admission through horizontal transfer, specifically the 'YÖK
REGULATIONS ON TRANSFER BETWEEN ASSOCIATE AND BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMS - CENTRAL
SCORE (Annex-1) HORIZONTAL TRANSFER PROCEDURES AND PRINCIPLES'.
Vertical transfer is a system that allows students graduating from vocational schools to transfer to
bachelor's degree programs. This transition is carried out according to the results of the Vertical
Transfer Examination (DGS), which is organized annually by the Measurement, Selection and Placement
Center (ÖSYM).
Adaptations are made in accordance with the conditions stipulated in the Regulation on the Principles
of Transfer Between Associate and Bachelor's Degree Programs, Double Major, Minor and InterInstitutional Credit Transfer in Higher Education Institutions, published in the Official Gazette dated
April 24, 2010, and numbered 27561.
