Istanbul Aydın University was established in 2007 by the Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV) with the aim of training qualified human resources sought after at the national and international levels.
The Board of Trustees of Istanbul Aydın University decided in 2015 to establish a Faculty of Medicine, and the Council of Ministers' decision dated August 14, 2015, legally approved the establishment of a Turkish-language program at the Faculty of Medicine affiliated with Istanbul Aydın University. Under the leadership of the Founding Dean, all necessary preparations were completed, and the Higher Education Council's decision dated May 12, 2016, granted permission for the faculty to admit students and begin education.
The Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine Turkish Program has a standard six-year education period. The preclinical part of the program covers the first three years, while the clinical part covers the last three years. Each academic year consists of 32 weeks of instruction (annual program). Education begins each year in the fall semester. The courses and seminars of the preclinical phase (1st–3rd years) are taught in Turkish at the IAÜ Halit Aydın Florya Campus. The clinical phase (years 4–6) is completed alternately at the campus, at the Istanbul Aydın University Health Application and Research Center Hospital, and at leading Turkish teaching and research hospitals. The language of instruction for the preparatory theoretical education on campus and for the clinical internships at the Teaching and Research Hospitals is Turkish.
The primary goal of Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine is to train skilled, professional, and dedicated physicians equipped for modern healthcare, with patient care as the top priority. Our aim is to prepare excellent physicians to meet the challenges of healthcare in the 21st century. The Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine Turkish Program graduated its first class in 2022.
The Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul Aydın University is diligently continuing its preparations for applications for full accreditation status granted by the National Medical Education Accreditation Board (UTEAK) of the Medical Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (TEPDAD).
