Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

General Information

Students admitted to the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, which first accepted students in the 2015–2016 academic year, graduate as “Physiotherapists” upon successful completion of a four-year education program.

Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who bear primary responsibility for the protection of musculoskeletal health and for improving movement and function in cases of injury, accidents, and similar conditions. They are involved in the assessment of musculoskeletal system problems in patients, the implementation of physiotherapy modalities related to musculoskeletal treatment, and the planning and execution of exercise programs. In addition to managing conditions such as illness and disability, physiotherapists play a significant role in the protection and promotion of health. Particularly with the increasing aging population in society, the demand for physiotherapists is expected to rise further. Disease prevention has gained importance comparable to effective treatment, both at the individual and societal levels. In this context, physiotherapists take a leading role in promoting healthy lifestyle habits that enhance general activity levels and functionality among individuals of all age groups.

Our education and training program consists of basic and internal medical sciences, professional courses, research methods, and clinical practice. Throughout the four-year education period, students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge that enables them to provide services in various healthcare settings, including neurological and neurosurgical rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, women’s health and gynecological rehabilitation, hand surgery rehabilitation, occupational therapy, rheumatological rehabilitation, oncological rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics, athlete health and rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, and rehabilitation in intensive care units. Graduates are equipped as competent professionals in the field of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.

Physiotherapists have a wide range of employment opportunities, including university hospitals, public and private hospitals, rehabilitation centers, vocational rehabilitation centers, special education centers and schools for individuals with disabilities, orthotics and prosthetics units, spa centers, thermal hotels, sports clubs and centers, nursing homes, home care service providers, industrial settings, schools, and fitness centers. In addition, physiotherapists may pursue academic careers by completing master’s and doctoral studies.
