Students

Students of the Mechanical Engineering (English) Undergraduate Program are the most important and active stakeholders of the educational ecosystem. In line with a student-centered education approach, the department adopts a transparent governance structure that ensures direct student participation in decision-making and quality improvement processes.

Interaction with students is carried out through three main mechanisms:

1. Student Representation and Participation in Decision-Making In order to promote a culture of democratic participation, Student Representatives elected at the department and faculty levels play an active role.

  • The departmental student representative directly conveys students' opinions, suggestions, and requests to the Head of the Department and relevant academic boards.
  • Student representatives participate in meetings regarding curriculum updates and the planning of social activities, ensuring that students' voices are effectively represented.

2. Feedback Mechanisms (Surveys and Evaluation) Within the framework of continuous improvement of educational quality (PDCA Cycle), student feedback constitutes our most important data source.

  • Course Evaluation Surveys: At the end of each semester, anonymous surveys are conducted for all courses through the automation system. Students evaluate course content, adequacy of instructional materials, instructor performance, and the contribution of the course to learning outcomes.
  • Analysis and Improvement: Survey results are carefully analyzed by the department administration. The findings serve as guidance for enriching course content and supporting the professional development of academic staff in subsequent semesters.

3. Communication and Participation Channels Multiple channels have been established to ensure students' access to the administration on academic and administrative matters:

  • Academic Advising: Academic advisors assigned to each student provide guidance throughout the educational process and monitor students' individual development.
  • Regular Meetings: Direct communication is ensured through periodic "Student Meetings" and focus group sessions organized by the Head of the Department.
  • Project and Club Activities: Students actively contribute to the department's research culture through engineering clubs and project teams (e.g., TEKNOFEST, TÜBİTAK).
