The Turkish Program in Accounting and Financial Management has been operating since 2007 with the aim of educating qualified professionals who can document, record, report, and analyze all financial transactions carried out within businesses. The main objective of the program is to ensure that graduates acquire the knowledge and competencies required to manage the accounting and financial operations of public and private sector organizations in compliance with national and international regulations. Throughout the four-year curriculum, students initially take foundational courses such as economics, business administration, mathematics, law, and statistics; in the following semesters, they gain professional expertise through accounting- and finance-oriented courses. In the third year, students choose faculty electives from the common elective course pool of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences; in the fourth year, they select university electives based on their interests and personal development goals. In addition, during the final year, students are supported in gaining practical professional experience through Workshop courses consisting of seminars and applied content delivered with the contributions of field experts.
Upon completing their education, graduates may obtain the professional title of Certified Public Accountant (Serbest Muhasebeci Mali Müşavir – SMMM) if they pass the relevant qualification exam and complete the mandatory internship period. Subject to meeting the required conditions, they may also earn the title of Sworn-in Certified Public Accountant (Yeminli Mali Müşavir – YMM). Graduates who successfully pass the Independent Auditor examination administered by the Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority (KGK) may work as Independent Auditors, confirming the accuracy and reliability of companies’ financial transactions on behalf of third parties. In addition, graduates may be employed as specialists in public institutions such as the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Turkish Court of Accounts, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, the Capital Markets Board and Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority. Students aiming for an academic career may continue with the master’s (with or without thesis) and doctoral programs in Accounting and Auditing offered by the Institute of Postgraduate Education; moreover, they may enhance their international academic competencies through the English-taught master’s program in the same field.
