​​​​​​Mission: Statistics is an interdisciplinary science that examines the collection, evaluation, interpretation and presentation of data in all areas of life. It is practiced in a wide range of fields from engineering and natural sciences to social sciences, economics to public relations. All private and public institutions use the tools of statistics in areas such as production and product development processes, total quality management processes, market investigation, system reliability and experiment design under the conditions of global competition. In addition, the need for statisticians in various fields particularly insurance, banking, finance, actuarial and risk management, stock exchange, decision support systems, health and earthquake researches is increasing day by day.

Our purpose is conveying the knowledge of technical fields and basic knowledge of social sciences as mentioned below, that will meet this need and are compatible with Statistical Science, to the students in the best possible way: basic mathematics theories, theory of statistics, probability and stochastic processes, theory and methods of statistics, time-series analysis, statistic information systems and computer networks and artificial intelligence, statistical quality control and total quality management, optimization methods in statistics and operational research besides six sigma and lean production approach, data mining, experiment design and analysis of variance, fuzzy logic and statistical applications, risks analysis.

Career Opportunities: The graduates of the department can work as assistant specialists responsible for statistical processes in automotive and the other industrial sectors in banks, ministries and under secretariats, various general directorates in public, insurance companies, Armed Forces, software companies, public relations companies, statistical research centers, universities and logistics companies. They can work as managers in parallel to their career developments.
