Purpose and Content

The aim of the course 1-To explain the relationship between the phenomenon of health and community structures 2-To explain the relationship between diseases and the way of settlement of society 3-To explain the relationship between the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and the culture of society 4-To explain the change in the structure of society caused by diseases 5- To learn the institutions that emerged in societies about the treatment of diseases and their place in society 6-To learn the official and unofficial institutions established in the society related to illness and health 7-To learn to see the differences between modern medical culture and old medical culture 8-To recognise modern medical institutions and bureaucracy 9-To learn the sociological aspects of doctor-patient relations 10-Birth, to learn the relationship between mortality and life expectancy rates with the health system
Course Content Sociological definition of health and illness, the relationship between birth and death rates and health care, sociology in medicine and sociology of medicine, theoretical knowledge on the sociology of health, infectious diseases and social structures, health and disease systems as a social institution, organisation of health institutions, stereotypes of doctor and patient roles, medicine and health care as a profession.
