Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Students will have the skills to analyze and design database system using the entity relationship model and schema. They will have the skills to define database query techniques such as relational algebra, relational calculus and SQL. In addition to these topics, students will have skills in relational database design approach, query processing, query optimization and XML definition.
Course Content Design algorithms and applications; entity-relationship model; hierarchical, network, relational databases; query languages; relational algebra and computation; data dependencies; normal forms; consistency, integrity, and security issues.
