Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	This programme has the following as its objectives: To explain the main responsibilities of a project manager and how to carry out these. Equip participants with modern project approaches and project management techniques To provide tools for project control and evaluation Improve professional project managers’ capacity to formulate, monitor and evaluate projects Apply computer skills to project management activities

Course Content

Introduction: definition of project and project management. The difference between software projects and other types of projects. Management activities: planning, timing, scheduling, cost estimation, people management, risk management, monitoring and controlling, Configuration management, evaluation of projects, quality management. Exercising Microsoft Project Management Software

Learning Outcomes

Adequate knowledge in mathematics, physical sciences and the engineering subjects of individual branches; the ability to implement theoretical and practical knowledge in the respective areas to modeling and solving engineering problems.
Ability to identify, define, formulate and solve complex engineering problems; ability to select and implement the appropriate analysis and modeling methods in this respect.
Ability to design and conduct experiments for analyzing engineering problems or research subjects specific to the discipline, to collect data, to analyze and interpret the results.
Ability to use, choose and develop modern techniques and means required for engineering applications; ability to use information technologies effectively.
An ability to design and conduct experiments, collect data, analyze and interpret results for the study of complex engineering problems or discipline-specific research topics.
Awareness of the necessity of lifelong learning; ability to reach information, follow the latest developments in science and technology; ability to ensure self-renewal perpetually.

Ability to communicate efficiently both in oral and written ways in Turkish; knowledge of at least one foreign language; ability to effectively prepare reports and understand written reports, prepare design and production reports, effective presentation, giving and receiving clear and understandable instructions.
Knowledge of business practices such as project management, risk management and change management; awareness of entrepreneurship, innovation; information about sustainable development.

8	Timing and scheduling management activity. Using Microsoft Project project to implement timing and scheduling activity for given project
9	Monitoring and controlling projects. What is milestone? How to write reports.
10	Software cost estimation: software productivity, estimation techniques. Algorithmic cost modelling.
11	Quality management. Software quality parameters and standards
12	Software quality issues: reviews and inspections, software measurements and metrics
13	Practical work on management activities using Microsoft Project Management software
14	Discussion students class assignments by Microsoft Project Management software
