  Announcement to Our Students about the Fall Semester of the 2020-2021 Academic Year in scope of 09.01.2020 minutes in the Senate Meeting of IAU


<p rtenodeid="484">​<span style="text-align: justify;">I</span><span style="text-align: justify;">stanbul Aydın University the Fall Semester of the 2020-2021 Academic Year will start on October, 12 2020 in the Faculty of Medicine programs, and on October 14, 2020 for all other graduate, undergraduate and associate degree programs, under Covid-19 global epidemic conditions.</span></p><p rtenodeid="487" style="text-align: justify;">Istanbul Aydın University considers it a fundamental priority that all academic fields of activity are safe for health. &#160;For this reason, we believe that in order to maintain &#160;educational and scientific research activities, social responsibility and scientific projects, and the activities of our academic units and student clubs, a series of measures should be taken against the Covid- 19 global epidemic at the university campus and all activities should be carried out in accordance with these measures in the 2020- 2021 Academic Year.</p><p rtenodeid="490" style="text-align: justify;">Ensuring that all our students have equal access to educational opportunities, which we believe to be a very important public service, is an issue that our university emphasizes. Moreover, it is also among our priorities to ensure that all our academic staff carry out scientific research activities within our university under all conditions.</p><p rtenodeid="492" style="text-align: justify;">All academic activities in the 2020- 2021 academic year will be carried out within the carefully considered decisions by our Senate, based upon the principles of&#160; Council of Higher Education &quot;Statement Text for the 2020- 2021 Education and Training Period in our Higher Education Institutions&quot; dated 13.02.2020 and the &quot;New Normalization Process Guide in the Global Epidemic&quot; </p><p rtenodeid="494" style="text-align: justify;">Istanbul Aydın University Senate, in order to minimize the effects of the Covid- 19 global epidemic, to prevent the spread of the virus, and not to endanger the health of our students, academic and administrative staff, has taken the following decisions to conduct teaching and learning in the form of blended (hybrid) education in the Fall Semester of the 2020- 2021 academic year:</p><p rtenodeid="496" style="text-align: justify;">The Fundamental Principles Regarding the Delivery of 2020- 2021 Fall Semester Courses</p><p rtenodeid="498" style="text-align: justify;">1.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; The common compulsory courses will be on online. </p><p rtenodeid="501" style="text-align: justify;">2.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Fully theoretical courses, which do not require laboratory or workshop practice, will start only online. The execution method can be re-evaluated according to progress of the pandemic.</p><p rtenodeid="504" style="text-align: justify;">3.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Full theoretical courses which need the numerical problem-solving and using of a whiteboard or visual material will be conducted both online and face-to-face in reduced class capacity.</p><p rtenodeid="506" style="text-align: justify;">4.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Courses in the form of workshop or laboratory practice will be realized face-to- face by taking necessary measures and in reduced class capacity. </p><p rtenodeid="509" style="text-align: justify;">5.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Students who cannot attend to face-to-face courses in reduced class capacity will be able to follow their lessons remotely.</p><p rtenodeid="512" style="text-align: justify;">6.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; The number of students who will attend the face-to-face lessons in reduced calss capacity will be determined by considering the number of students enrolled in the course and the size of the classroom in square meters. According to this planning, the students will be divided into two or more groups. For example, the first group will meet the first week, the second group will meet the second week, and they will be able to attend lectures by coming to the university for face-to-face education in reduced class capacity every two or more weeks taking turns. Therefore, each student will be able to follow a course for 7 weeks online, 7 weeks face-to-face. With this method, the number of students on campuses and in courses will ideally be reduced by dividing a course into two.</p><p rtenodeid="517" style="text-align: justify;">Clinical Training, Internships and Work Placements;</p><p rtenodeid="519" style="text-align: justify;"><br rtenodeid="520"/><br rtenodeid="521"/></p><p rtenodeid="522" style="text-align: justify;">7.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Internships and placments at workplaces within the university out outside the unievsity will be carried out in accordance with the permissions obtained from the workplaces. If it is without permission, the internships and placements will be postponed to the spring semester.</p><p rtenodeid="525" style="text-align: justify;">8.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; The theoretical parts of clinical training, internship and work placements in the field of health studies will be held online simultaneously in the fall semester, and the internships and clinical practice trainings will be held face-to-face in the fall semester according to the conditions determined by the relevant authorities. If clinical trainings cannot be carried out, they will be postponed to the spring semester.</p><p rtenodeid="530" style="text-align: justify;">Art and Design Disciplines;</p><p rtenodeid="532" style="text-align: justify;">9.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Drawing and painting courses that require a workshop environment or architectural and industrial design courses based on project-correction and courses that require the use of special equipment and computer design labs will be held face-to-face in reduced class capacity and by taking turns. </p><p rtenodeid="535" style="text-align: justify;">10.&#160; Acting and drama courses that require group trainings can be performed on campus stages and studios by creating reduced student groups according to covid-19 conditions.</p><p rtenodeid="538" style="text-align: justify;">11.&#160; Our academic staff will continue their academic and scientific work activities within the University as usual, by taking the necessary measures. </p><p rtenodeid="541" style="text-align: justify;">12.&#160; Formal education will be also held on Saturdays.</p><p rtenodeid="544" style="text-align: justify;">13.&#160; Registration renewals and course registrations will be realized completely in digital environment.</p><p rtenodeid="547" style="text-align: justify;">14.&#160; All campuses, especially Florya Halit Aydın Campus, will be open to the use of our students, provided that epidemic measures (physical distance, masks, hygiene and other measures) are meticulously followed during the 2020-2021 academic year, but the maximum number of students will be planned.</p><p rtenodeid="550" style="text-align: justify;">15.&#160; Epidemic measures will be implemented in the library and our library will continue to serve between 10.00 -22.00 for seven days, on the understanding that our students fully comply with these measures.</p><p rtenodeid="553" style="text-align: justify;">16.&#160; How the exams will be conducted (supervised online, face-to-face, etc.) will be decided later according to the progress of the pandemic.</p><p rtenodeid="556" style="text-align: justify;">Note: In case of an extraordinary developments, the above items can be updated.</p><p rtenodeid="558" style="text-align: justify;">&#160;</p><p rtenodeid="560" style="text-align: justify;">&#160;</p>
