"Scientia est potentia" / "Knowledge is power."
Francis Bacon (1597)
Today, the world revolves within a global communication network where borders have dissolved and all actors are connected to one another through invisible ties. Because the ability of individuals and institutions to sustain their existence is only possible through establishing accurate and effective communication within this network. Therefore, the strategic importance of communication—steadily increasing since the Industrial Revolution—has today merged with academic competence and become one of the most dynamic fields of study at universities, leading to the establishment of related departments and faculties.
The Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Aydın University has been at the center of this dynamic process since 2007. For this reason, we continue our educational and instructional activities with full dedication, guided by a vision of carrying them beyond the present age. To this end, we transform the theoretical knowledge of our expert academic staff—graduates of nationally and internationally reputable universities—into practice through our faculty's advanced-technology TV and radio studios and application workshops.
With the aim of international recognition as a priority, our faculty meticulously implements the standards and reforms of the "European Higher Education Area," known as the Bologna Process, of which our country is a part. Through bilateral collaborations (MOUs) and agreements with leading universities around the world, we prepare our students for the international business environment by offering not only local but also global standards of education.
With the responsibility that comes from being one of the most established faculties in its field in Türkiye, we educate our students to be individuals who are proficient not only in today's technologies but also in those of the future. In this direction, we continuously update our curriculum and practice areas with artificial intelligence tools and new media technologies.
Accordingly, we will continue to bring into the sector the young people entrusted to us as communication professionals equipped with the competencies required by the age and guided by ethical values.
Sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Özer Kanburoğlu
