About:
The proliferating literature on gender-based violence and many international social policy and human rights organizations increasingly emphasize the significance of participation of men in preventing the effects of violence towards women. In this regard, many research projects conducted across the globe currently point to the necessity of investigating the experiences, lifeworld and discourses of men, especially young men to heighten consciousness and to accomplish socio-pedagogical gains. Our research primarily aims to raise awareness among the future, male professionals of social work, pinpoint the theoretical-practical gaps and necessities and provide strategical findings for restructuring social work curriculum and improving related, pro-active social work interventions.
Methods:
The study includes 2 focused group interviews with a total of 25 male social work students from various Turkish higher education institutions along with a workshop, which will be open to all social work instructors.
