UFRAD Franchising Association President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın said “This system, aiming to make individuals below the poverty threshold important economic actors can be the solution for the global poverty issue’’.

Micro franchising which is a business development model for small and micro-sized business enterprises and the segments of the society below the poverty threshold becomes a prominent as a system that is attracted attention and used in the global economy during recent years. Micro franchising is described as '' a business development tool that uses the basic concepts of traditional franchising however focuses create opportunities, especially for the poorest people of the world to have and manage their own business'' by Acumen Fund. Micro franchising is the possibility of a solution to major issues such as the lack of skills required to grow a successful business, the lack of job opportunities in the developing countries and the lack of goods and services for the poor.

HOW DOES MICRO FRANCHISING PROCESS?

UFRAD Franchising Association President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın who evaluated the micro franchising system summarized the understanding of the process of system as

''Micro franchising, which is sometimes referred with the concept of 'social franchising' in the literature, first of all, it offers a plan and sketch to people who do not have entrepreneur skills. The franchise following this formula leads its owner to economic success even if its owner doesn't have an entrepreneurial spirit. These enable consumers to reach products, services and higher quality of life. Thus, the aim of micro franchising is providing self-employment opportunities to people who lack of entrepreneurship opportunities and encourage economic development by developing a strong business model which can be copied by entrepreneurs with lower income. Reproduction, sustainability and social impact are among the fundamental principles''.

''IT CAN BRING THE POOR COMMUNITY TO THE GLOBAL ECONOMY''

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın said '' In the developing countries, many small businesses managing by people either fail or only exist at the subsistence level'' and he added ''Micro franchising is a specially designed tool to help these entrepreneurs to become more successful and reach the economic self-reliance through providing successful business models with the required beginnings and ongoing trainings to become successful. From this aspect, it can get them by providing a new opportunity for the layer of the society below the poverty threshold, have difficulty in participating in the global and local economy and even if it doesn't have any enterprise power but have a willing. So, it can be a remedy for poverty on a global scale by increasing the economic power of relevant groups.

''IT CAN BE A FINAL SOLUTION FOR THE SOCIAL PROBLEMS''

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın underlining that the micro-franchising system, which is especially spoken on the concept of the ''social franchising'' lately, may have the feature of providing a final solution for the social problems originated from poverty, said '' There is an idiom that 'hungry people eat their faiths' in our society''. This means that the people who are economically disadvantaged and have nothing to lose can do anything to survive. Thanks to the social franchising, health problems and the tendency to violence and crime arising from the lack of sufficient nutritional sources can be eliminated in segments without a livelihood. You don't expect from the person who will have a job and earn a livelihood with this method neither to be unhealthy nor resort to violence and crime. Because the person who succeeds individual development doesn't even think about such behaviors ''.

''IT CAN RESULT VERY SUCCESSFULLY IN TURKEY''

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın recorded that Turkey could be an important area for this system. He finished his speech as follows "Our people's request to entrepreneurship is much higher than many societies. In Turkey, everybody wants to start their own business and be their own boss. However she/he either has imperfect knowledge or has low capital, he/she is a little afraid or pays too much attention to the suggestions from around him/her or he/she doesn't have a serious business plan. That's why, I think this system can result at a very successful level if the steps are taken to support micro franchising. As an UFRAD Franchising Association, we also take the subject of social franchising as a mission in Turkey scale. We are maintaining our preparations to study on this subject at an academic level.''
