Fish Develops Resistance To Covid-19!
Fish season started. Prof. Dr. Candan Varlık and Prof. Dr. Kamil Bostan reported that it is essential to consume fish more than the previous years, increase body resistance and take protein.
<p></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Fine Arts Head of Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Prof. Dr. Kamil Bostan and Academic Member Prof. Dr. Candan Varlık </strong>discussed fish consumption in coronavirus pandemic with the starting of fish season in the seas, and remarked that the protein fish provides to the body has not an equivalence. <strong>Prof. Dr. Candan Varlık </strong>stated "It is required to increase fish consumption and body resistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, we should take plenty of protein and consume foods rich in vitamin and mineral. We can also take vitamins and minerals from onion and salad while eating fish." </p><p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>"Fish is the easiest digestible food"</strong></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Prof. Dr. Varlık said "Fish is the easiest digestible food. It is required to eat fish at least two or three times a week. Especially developing children and young should eat fish. Fish reduces heart attack risk. As it is easy to digest, foods besides fish make human full and does not harm. Of course, a long as it is fresh."</p><p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>How to cook fish in the healthiest way?</strong></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Prof. Dr. Candan Varlık stated "One of the key point of fish is the way of cooking healthy. The healthiest cooking way is poaching. As it is the season, bonito and anchovy are recommended. Sea bass and blue fish also can be poached but bonito is ideal now. Fish also can be grilled without burning. If fish will be fried, do not use old oil. There is a thing that applicable for all goods. Oil must be very hot. Flouring the fish makes increases its value but can change its flavor. Fish can be cooked by wrapping to aluminum foil, in this way its water stays inside. A freshwater fish can be cooked by sticking to egg and fine white flour. In this way its taste stays inside. Some fish can be non-delicious due to the season. Thus, those kind of sweetenings are helpful for taste. </p><p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Which fish is consumed most in this season?</strong></p><p style="text-align: justify;">In those days that the weather is not very cold, Prof. Dr. Varlık said "Fish just started to be oiled, so bonito is good to eat now. Anchovy and red mullet are unoiled and dry now. We need to wait till November or December to eat them. However, saurel can be eaten every season. Saurel is the cheapest and the most delicious fish in this season. Expensive fish does not mean delicious fish. It changes due to the season. Sea bass and even bonito are not delicious even it is the season right now. It must be cold first. Fish become delicious as it gets oiled, and it does not get oiled before the weather gets cold. And fish are just hatched from eggs, that means the fish in eggs are not oiled, so, every fish are not delicious in those days. "</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>How to choose fresh fish?</strong></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Prof. Dr. Varlık described how to distinguish fresh fish and ice plant fish "When you press the fish, if a hole occurs, and this hole stays in a while, and if eyes of fish are blurred and its gills are dull, it is then ice plant fish. Fresh fish smells like sea. If you buy frozen fish from grocery, make sure there is no leak in the bag because if there is a leak, it is not fresh fish. If fish in grocery are frozen and packaged in order, it can be consumed. We can say that frozen products are the best products. There would not much decrease in food quality. Solutioning must be properly. It is not so healthy to freeze fish at home but you can freeze by cleaning inside and shedding blood of fish. You should consume fish in a week for not losing food value." </p><p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Is tuna fish healthy? </strong></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Prof. Dr. Varlık stated "there is no possibility for canned foods to be unhealthy. Tuna fish are quite healthy. You just need to check shelf life. It has plenty of oil inside and this oil diverse as sunflower seed and olive. People wonder why it has that plenty of oil inside. They especially put oil to give aroma and reduce smell of fish. We recommend tuna fish. Besides it is hard to trick in fish, if so it appears easily."</p>
