<p>​<span style="text-align: justify;">&#39;&#39;STEM Teacher&#39;&#39; Certificate was given to more than 600 teachers in the 27 certificate program until today within the scope of the STEM Teacher Training Project which is started by IAU Research and Application Center for STEM Education in 2015 for the first time.</span></p><p>Face to face training in the first STEM laboratory of Turkey is carried out online synchronous and asynchronous in pandemic conditions. Now, participants&#39; registrations for the program are entered. This program is carried out by the head of IAU Research and Application Center for STEM Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Devrim Akgündüz. </p><p><strong>&#39;&#39;STUDENTS ACQUIRE SKILLS OF THE 21</strong><strong>^st</strong><strong> CENTURY&#39;&#39;</strong></p><p>Associate of IAU Faculty of Education and the head of&#160; Research and Application Center for STEM Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Devrim Akgündüz made evaluations on the subject and said &#39;&#39; STEM, composed of the first letters of the words &#39;&#39;Science&#39;&#39;, &#39;&#39;Technology&#39;&#39;, &#39;&#39;Engineering&#39;&#39;, and &#39;&#39;Mathematics&#39;&#39; aims to develop technology by integrating science and mathematics knowledge with the design process steps of engineering. We recommend that it be applied in the schools to ensure students to acquire skills of the 21^st century and lead them to STEM career fields. However, the approach of the STEM education can be carried out with teachers who know the process and apply it properly. The first STEM Teacher Certificate Program of Turkey starting within the scope of STEM Teacher Training Project is so important. We want STEM education to be generalized and applied properly in Turkey with the studies we did. In this sense, we carry on works with schools and teachers&#39;&#39;.</p><p><strong>&#39;&#39;WE SHOULD PREPARE STUDENTS TO THE SOCIETY 5.0 AND ITS BEYOND&#39;&#39;</strong></p><p>The teachers carrying out the STEM education should prepare a teaching plan, know the design process of engineering, use the interdisciplinary connections and scientific method, and lead students in this context and should manage the whole process successfully. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akgündüz stated &quot;Students acquire various skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, complex problem solving and collaboration, which are accepted as &quot;21st century skills&quot; can be achieved through STEM education. Today, using disciplines singly is not enough anymore. The ability to use different disciplines gained importance. To train individuals who are ready for Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0, and interplanetary era in which humanity aims to colonize on Mars, we must adapt the education system to this. We must raise individuals who are producer, not consumers. We, as IAU STEM Center, prepared many projects for both students and teachers. We developed educational programs and projects for girls and disadvantaged children with UNESCO and the USA Department of State, TÜSİAD and the Ministry of National Education in vocational education, and with the support of TÜBİTAK and other organizations in STEM activities outside of school. We applied these educations and projects successfully. We published books and articles. There are the first STEM books of Turkey among them.&quot;</p><p><strong>APPLIED STEM EDUCATION TO TEACHERS IN STEM LABORATORY</strong></p><p>Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akgündüz stated &quot;Teachers had the opportunity to apply the practical trainings they received within the scope of the certificate program in their schools later. One of our most important STEM studies is the first STEM laboratory established in Turkey where we hold the STEM Teacher Certificate Program. Our teachers and students receive applied education here. We provide every component of STEM education as applied. Thus, our teachers also apply the training they receive here in their own schools. We also work with the schools that demand in this topic.&quot; <br/></p>
