On June 1st, in honor of National Phenylketonuria (PKU) Day, a panel discussion titled "Living with Phenylketonuria (PKU)" was held at Istanbul Aydin University, featuring Deniz ATAKAY, President of the PKU Family Association, alongside faculty members Prof. Dr. Mine ERGÜVEN and Dr. Arta ARMANİ from the
Faculty of Medicine (English Program).
Deniz ATAKAY, renowned as the President of the PKU Family Association and a columnist, is a true activist in the field of PKU, known for raising a successful, intelligent, and well-educated child with PKU. PKU is a challenging lifelong condition that necessitates restrictions on nearly all food types. ATAKAY's efforts extend beyond personal achievements, advocating for all families and children affected by PKU. This panel discussion aims to enhance public awareness about the impacts of PKU and highlight ATAKAY's advocacy work, which not only supports individual families but also aims to educate and empower broader society about this complex condition.
