Earthquakes are considered as one of the most important natural events that can cause disasters for our country. The reason why the earthquake turns into a disaster is that the building stock is not strong enough. In order to build safe structures against major earthquakes that may occur in a settlement in that region, many different conditions such as education, legal infrastructure and inspection must be provided. As AFAM, we started the webinar series On the Road to Safe Buildings in order to evaluate each condition aiming at earthquake-resistant construction in our country, which is mostly located in the earthquake zone, to identify the deficiencies, if any, and to determine the steps to be taken to eliminate these deficiencies.
