The earthquakes that occurred 4.5 (Mw) on September 24, 2019 and 5.8 (Mw) on September 24, 2019 in Silivri off the Marmara Sea, once again brought up discussions on the effects of an earthquake in Istanbul. There are important opinions that an earthquake of magnitude to occur in Istanbul, one of the most important cities in the world with its population, contribution to the country's economy and cultural values, will be national security.

At the conference, where Prof. Dr. Şükrü Ersoy shared all the details of the expected Istanbul earthquake and a possible tsunami danger, Assoc. Prof. Şevket Ayaz talked about the dangers of earthquakes in terms of national security, and AFAM Coordinator Serhat Yılmaz informed about the basic principles of disaster mitigation to participants.
