The students of this program;
Our students will be able to prepare patients for examination and shoots required by doctor in radiology units within health institutions; use high technology systems as follows;
- Conventional/digital x-ray,
- Ultrasonography,
- Computer tomography,
- Magnetic resonance,
- Mammography,
- Angiography,
- Fluoroscopy,
- Scintigraphy;
obtain images; prepare films and images ready for use; start their careers as experienced technicians with the skills and knowledge they obtained.
Skills Gained from Applied Education
- To know and use the equipment to protect patients and personnel including themselves and have enough knowledge about special protective equipment (lead apron, gonad shield and thyroid shield, etc.)
- To apply radiation safety measures
- To be able to distinguish the radiological anatomy by knowing anatomical structures well
- To know medical and radiological terms
- To make the medical imaging device and environment ready for radiographic examination
- To know x-ray device, the most commonly used and basic imaging method in Medical Imaging, and its equipment very well
- To prepare patients for mammography and carrying out the procedure required for mammography that is an early diagnosis device used for scanning healthy people and examining patients and has a special importance for women
- To know and use Bone Mineral Density (BMD) device that is important in geriatric patients in terms of quality of life
- To know Computer Tomography device, one of the most widely used methods, has an important place in diagnosis with cross-sectional image, to prepare patients for computer tomography device and complete the procedure
- To know Magnetic Resonance device, that provides cross-sectional image and does not include ionizing radiation, to prepare patients and use the device
- To know and use Angiography device for imaging vascular structures
- To carry out electronic recording procedures of film bathing/printing and images; to know and use Laser Film Printer, CD robots, PACS systems to document the obtained images
- To supervise the disposal of radioactive waste materials needed to be annihilated, and to take necessary measures to prevent environmental harm
- To perform radionuclide, fluoroscopy and radiopaque material injection under the supervision of an expert
