​​​​​The students will be provided with the opportunity to learn their fields of study through their instructors and academic studies will be supported by the instructors working in the sector in this context during the undergraduate program of "New Media and Communication". It is aimed that students will have the ability, knowledge and creativity to produce relevant services in the subjects such as digital content production and management for social media and e-commerce. Competent, effective, knowledgeable, young and dynamic personnel are required at creation and production of digital content services, especially in social media departments of today's increasing number of institutions.

"New Media and Communication" undergraduate program pursues the goal of progressing successfully with the support of the instructors working in sector and qualified academic staff of Faculty of Communication in order to educate qualified personnel who will be able to use mass media in an efficient and effective way, earn reputation in wide range and meet the expectations of the sector. What does it offer?

"New Media and Communication" offers undergraduate program in which students are taught both theory and practice. The main aim of the program is educating students who succeeds to use new media elements strategically in life that is intertwined with technology. It is aimed to ensure the students take firm steps forward business world and the academic study level of the program will be realized with the same strength by means of the applications performed.

Why should students prefer us? The students of the department will acquire a comprehensive theoretical knowledge of individual-based new media and communication come to exist in the light of today's developing technology. The students will be able to learn the basic of the relation between communication and sociology, culture, technology during theoretical lectures and then practice their knowledge in the VR Laboratory which is located in the university. Thus, the students will not only be able to obtain information about what they study but will also use their knowledge strategically and practice it. The students who prefer the department will have enough for graduating as prepared individuals for business life by combining their knowledge and practices.

What fields are available to work for a "New Media and Communication" graduate?

The requirements of institutions and organizations with technological knowledge, that are active in the field of social media, continues to grow. Brands in various sectors have established new media departments and they need specialists who will implement advertising and marketing studies in new media. It is possible for the graduates of this department to work as "New Media Expert" at the marketing and corporate communication departments of these brands. In addition, the graduates of the department will be able to work in broadcasting and work as reporters, editors or producers in the traditional media (newspaper, radio or TV) as well as in the field of internet/mobile.

Students who had education in the Department of "New Media and Communication" can work in any field related to "new media" after graduation. It is possible to work in positions such as "New Media Manager", "Social Media Manager", "Digital Content Manager", "Social Media Consultant". Hence, advertising, public relations and marketing fields have become integrated with new media; brands currently needs more graduates of "New Media and Communication" who will work in new media or e-commerce departments. In this context, the graduates of the department can begin their careers with titles such as "Internet Marketing Manager", "New Generations Communication Specialist", "Media Planning Specialist" and "E-Commerce Specialist". Moreover, those who have graduated from new media can target to work in journalism, television and production sectors since the traditional media in the mass media is becoming less and less important. The students who will work in this sector can work as "Digital Broadcast Director", "New Media Reporter", "New Media Editor", "New Media Producer" and "Online Journalist".

The world has grown into a digital tribe by virtue of the developing technology. As the boundaries have been removed; the conversation pieces, the possessed values have emerged as common. This has caused the existing languages to become inefficient. As follows, "digitalization" evolved out of technology has become a new global language, in other words a new communication element. In the future, it will become compulsory for individuals to understand this new language and know how to use it strategically. The main objective of the "New Media and Communication" undergraduate department is to create individuals who can communicate globally in the world where the borders were removed by technology. In particular, the fact that the traditional media is gradually giving way to the new media and the tendency of the new individual to express himself/herself indicates that the new media will be the most important means of mass communication in the future.

Today, technological differentiation in both individual and societal senses makes it necessary to educate professionals in this field. The most important point here is the fact that the "New Media and Communication" department will not only fulfill the responsibility of educating students. "New Media Application and Research Center" working harmoniously with the department objectives to perform academic scientific researches regarding the field. The main purpose is theoretical production with respect to the field, doing researches in "New Media" with the individuals working in the sector and ensuring academic research about new media in Turkey.  Our target is that our country will not be only a new media education practitioner but also a producer as a result of the integration between the scientific researches in "New Media" and education.

Undergraduate and graduate students will be able to produce projects together with the leading technology companies in the sector under the scope of education.
