School of Dental Medicine, Graduate Program in English Language

Faculty of Dental Medicine aims to diplomate dental surgeons with a five year graduate program. Since 2020-2021 academic year Program in English Language of the Faculty of Dental Medicine is started. 

 

For admission, Turkish students are accepted to the Dentistry section of the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) according to the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS). For more information, please visit https://www.osym.gov.tr/. Foreign students are accepted to the program as a result of their direct application to the University International Student's Office. All students are required to provide Proficiency Certificate in English language in order to gain admission to the first year program. Those who cannot provide Language Proficiency may attend International Language Course School of Istanbul Aydin University.  

 

The first cycle degree program in dental medicine is a "long first cycle" (one-tier, combined first and second cycles, 300 ECTS Credits, 5-year) degree program equivalent to Master of Science (MSc) degree. The program  meets the requirements by both the ECTS credits and level descriptors of the (long) first cycle degree qualifications of the Framework of the qualifications of the EHEA and the 7th level qualifications of the The Turkish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (NQF-HETR). The level descriptors also meet the 7th level requirements of  the qualifications of  The European Qualifications Framework (EQF-LLL).

Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded with the qualification of "LONG FIRST CYCLE" degree in dentistry equivalent to (combined first and second cycle) one-tier master's degree.

In order to graduate from the dental medicine  program the following conditions must to be met:

-Completion of all the courses designated within the curriculum of the program, having a total of 300 ECTS Credits, with passing grades,

-Achievement of  a cumulative gross point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Upon successful completion of this program, students may apply to master's (second cycle) and in some cases, to doctorate (third cycle) degree programs in or related fields of Dentistry. According to Article 2.a of the National Regulations on Graduate Education, students are admitted to master's programs taking into account their undergraduate (first cycle degree) achievement level and the scores on the subject-specific entrance examinations of the Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) centrally administered by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Within the framework of the national regulations, regulations endorsed by the senate of each university stipulate the weight of ALES Examination results in the overall evaluation of candidates. Depending on the institutions' regulations, for some programs to be accessed, a certain level of foreign language proficiency is also required. In the overall evaluation of candidates, scores obtained from ALES Examination are allotted a minimum score of 55 and a minimum weight of 50%.
