Purpose and Content

The aim of the course To enable the student of architecture to comprehend the planning process and stages of a neighborhood unit.
Course Content Synthesis of natural environment analysis, creation of plan concept, site selection for land use types (zoning), settlement plan, urban design.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Announcement of the topic and the calendar. Information about the project subject and course syllabus. Explaining the synthesis of the natural environment.
2Climatic features and vegetation analysis.
3Synthesis Stage 1: Superposition of slope analysis and aspect analysis.
4Synthesis Phase 2: Completion of natural environment synthesis by adding hydrological analysis and dominant wind directions. Concept : Creation and discussion of the project concept.
5Zoning: Developing 1/2000 scale neighborhood unit zoning scenario alternatives in relation to the concept.
6INTERMEDIATE DELIVERY-1: Presentation and discussion of zoning scenarios; choosing among alternatives.
7Development of 1/2000 scaled land use plan.
8MIDTERM. Sketch Exam: A free technique layout plan in a part of the neighborhood unit, on a 1/1000 scaled topographic map, in accordance with the land use plan decisions.
9Developing 1/1000 scaled Settlement Plan alternatives throughout the neighborhood unit.
10INTERMEDIATE DELIVERY-2: Presentation and discussion of land use plan and settlement plan alternatives; choosing among alternatives; follow-up control process.
11Developing the selected 1/1000 scaled Settlement Plan alternative.
12Developing the selected 1/1000 scaled Settlement Plan alternative.
131/500 scale Site Planning in a part of the neighborhood unit within urban design approach.
141/500 scale Site Planning in a part of the neighborhood unit within urban design approach.
