Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Giving information about acoustic comfort and visual comfort which are the topics of physical comfort conditions.
Course Content Elements of building physics, architectural acoustics, noise control and acoustics, sound and noise, propagation and transmission of sound, principles of noise control, field of interest of building acoustics and room acoustic, sound in outdoor and enclosed spaces, reverberation phenomenon and reverberation time, lighting, the concept of light, lighting quantity and quality, luminaires and lamps, lighting and architecture, natural lighting, color and color components, general information about color systems.

1Physical environment and elements of it / Physical comfort conditions / applicable environmental standards and regulations in Turkey (Heat insulation regulations, fire regulation, noise regulation, lighting standards)
2Architectural acoustics (building acoustics, room acoustics) / Description of sound and components of it
3Noise and noise types / Basic principles of noise control
4Noise control barriers and application examples / Noise control and detail samples for doors and windows/ Application about noise transmission loss
5Room acoustics criteria / Acoustic requirements for speech and music spaces
6The importance of the reverberation time in room acoustics / Acoustic defects and precautions / Basic principles of sound systems / Application; Reflective ceiling design in the halls
7Visual comfort and visual perception elements / Relation between lighting and architecture / Reflection, transmission and absorption of light / Quantification of light/ Measuring the light level
8Lighting quality and related features (light color, direction of light, shadow features, distribution of light) / Application; Average illuminance and illuminance in a point
