Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	In the course; The five components in the formation of the large data platform; theoretical information such as variety, velocity, data volume, verification and value i.e. definition of 5v in general, Internet, Information Technology will be transferred to the students. Media and New Media topics will be evaluated in a comprehensive way and research based learning will be done.
Course Content	To explain how the elements of information society in all areas of our life are blended with innovations brought by technology; the main aim of the course is to convey all the processes related to obtaining, changing, transforming and conveying information to others as it is today the symbol of prosperity.

Learning Outcomes

Know the structural, administrative and technical features in the process of transition from conventional media to new media.
Has knowledge in humanity and social sciences.
Knows the features of new media literacy.
Knows processes and developments specific to interactive and participatory new media culture.
Has advanced reading, thinking and analytical analysis skills that can critically evaluate new media content.
Has the ability to integrate professional and practical skills with new theoretical knowledge on new communication technologies.
Has the ability to analyze the effects of new media on social life, economy, culture and politics.
Designs and implements media for content delivery and distribution for digital platforms.

Examines research and development projects with a critical approach in order to find solutions for the problems in new media field.

Weekly Course Subjects

1	Examination of developments and transformations in information and communication technologies.
2	Investigation of the transfer of information through the concept of "data".
3	Definition of "Big Data" concept through current examples.
4	Explanation of the strategic importance of "Big Data".
5	Information on how institutions and people evaluate information under the heading "Great Data in the World".
6	Explanation on how to use Big Data in Turkey and for what purposes it is used.
7	Midterm
8	Explanation of the concept of "Semantic" required for good analysis of Large Data.
9	Explanation of the data conversion process and technology (Data-mining).
10	Definition of "Data Mining" concept and evaluation through present examples.
11	Information on "data mining" in the world and in Turkey
12	"Data Visualization" is discussed in terms of examples to discuss what benefits are available for corporations.
