Purpose and Content

The aim of the course To introduce the basic concepts of energy and energy transformations.
Course Content Contents of the Course Unit Basic concepts, units and systems; system properties; equilibrium state; energy, work, heat concepts; work-heat relationship; PV diagram; pure substance; PVT relationship; ideal gas equation; real gases; first law of Thermodynamics, relations between Enthalpy-internal energy and specific heat, general energy equation, the implementation of the first law into Open and Closed Systems; gas mixtures: Changes of state of the ideal gases, the entropy, the principle of increasing entropy, entropy balance, exergy: Definition of work potential, exergy balance.
