Purpose and Content

The aim of the course To teach the relation of heat transfer and to show their usage in application to design thermal systems in engineering.
Course Content General laws of heat transfer, one dimensional heat conduction in continuous regime, analytical and numerical solution of two dimensional heat conduction systems in continuous regime, heat transfer in unsteady regime, heat transfer with forced transport, natural transport systems, heat transfer with radiation, radiation in gas.

Weekly Course Subjects

1The general law of heat transfer. Definition of heat transfer, heat transfer mechanisms, heat transfer, heat transfer coefficient, heat transfer with convection and radiation
2One-dimensional heat conduction in the continuous regime. Continuous conduction of heat: One dimensional heat conduction in plane and single or compound wall
3Continuous conduction of heat: One dimensional heat conduction on single or combined cylindrical surfaces.
4Continuous conduction of heat: One dimensional heat conduction on cylindrical surfaces with heat generation.
5Heat transitions on extended surfaces.
6Heat transport, definitions
7Heat conduction in forced convection over sheet: Boundary layers.
8Continuity and momentum equations, thermal boundary layer and energy equations, dimensionlessness and physical meanings of dimensionless numbers.
9Midterm Exam
10Heat transfer over laminate and turbulent flow through plate.
11Heat transfer in forced convection in pipes and ducts.
12Boiling and choking
13Heat exchangers
14Heat radiation, basic definitions, black object, gray object.
