Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The objective of this course is to introduce the basic principles of structural dynamics and earthquake engineering, dynamic behaviours, design and analysis of structural systems for earthquake loads.
Course Content Earthquakes, types of earthquakes, earthquake parameters, structural vibrations, SDOF systems, MDOF systems, free and forced vibrations, Equivalent Seismic Load Method and response spectrum concept, numerical solution methods, nonlinear behavior of SDOF systems, special topics in earthquake engineering.
