Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The main purpose of the work placement activities embedded/attached into the semesters is to provide students with a relevant work environment which would enable them to apply the knowledge, skills and competences they acquire during their education and training period into practical life in their field as well as to enhance those skills, competences and knowledge and to gain practical experience in their field of study.
Course Content The work placement activities which students undertake during their training in the workplaces are planned and conducted according to a “Work Placement Activity Plan” prepared in coordination of the tutors of students, one from their department and one from the workplace, as prescribed in “The IAU’s Work Placement Directives” The contents of the “Work Placement Activity Plans” are prepared depending on both the operations of workplace and the study field of students and ensure that students participate in various activities, in workplaces in relation to the their fields of study; include learning and training activities such as applying the theoretical knowledge into practical problems, performing experiments and anaylising the results, defining the problems and processes related to their field of study, participating in teams, experiencing working with other personalities and observing how decisions are made, etc.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Completion of the bureaucratic affairs between the university and the work placement institution.
2Completion of student orientation.
3Carrying out a basic work in his/her major independently.
4Taking responsibility as a member of a team to solve unexpected and complex problems faced in work placement.
5Ability to carry out the activities which improves the skills of the staff in his/her responsibility along with a project.
6Evaluating the basic information and skill he/she acquired in his/her major through a critical perspective.
7Defining and meeting the learning needs in his/her major.
8Directing his/her education to an advanced education in the same major or another profession in the same level.
9Midterm exam week
10Required in the field of information and communication technologies with the use of computer software.
11Space-related issues at the level of basic knowledge and skills possessed transmitted through oral and written communication of ideas.
12Space-related issues with experts to share ideas and solutions to problems.
13Use of a foreign language and communicate with colleagues established knowledge in the field.
14Preparation of the report.
