Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The objective of this course is to identify the concept of foreigner and the social and political rights of foreigners in Turkish law, general doctrine of citizenship act and The Code of Turkish Nationality and the subject, scope, features and theories of Private International Law.
Course Content Basic principles governing the citizenship law, the definition of citizenship, its acquisition and loss are covered. The issues related to basic rights and freedoms of foreigners in Turkey, foreign investment and migration are to be dwelled on. Information on foreigner rights in other legislation is provided.

2Foreigners’ right to enter to Turkey and freedom of travel and residence, acquisition of Turkish citizenship
3Foreigner’s freedom of press, freedom of association, foreigner’s personal immunity, acquisition of Turkish citizenship, fraud against law in international private law
4Foreigner’s right and freedom of labor, loss of Turkish citizenship, theory of attribution in international private law
5Practical Study
6Social rights and freedoms of foreigners, loss of Turkish citizenship, key issues in International Private Law.
7Foreigner’s freedom of education, loss of Turkish citizenship, public order in international public order
8Midterm Exam
9Foreigner’s property and limited property rights, loss of Turkish citizenship, public order and rules in international private law
10Foreigner’s real property rights, proof of Turkish citizenship, application of law on foreigners in international private law
