Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Teaching Greek and Roman mythology to the students with visual presentations
Course Content Defining the world myths, the current understanding of the role and significance, Western (Greek and Roman) mythology, mainly the history of myths, Gods and Goddesses of mythology, introducing stories of heroism and love.Introducing the example of the art of mythological subjects seen in all branches of the Fine Arts.

1What is myth? Spread of myths in ancient Greece and Rome, myth producers: poets, dramatists and storytellers. Twelve Olympian Gods and Goddesses. Mountains in mythology. Zeus and his family. Hera's duties and symbols
2Goddess Athena, Mythological Identity and Symbols: What animals is she seen with? Who was Nike? What were Athena's inventions? Giving the name of Athena's Competition with Poseidon to a city. Embroidery competition with a Lydian young girl in Anatolia. Athena's Help to Prometheus in Stealing the Fire. Athena's participation in the beauty contest in the Kaz Mountains.
