Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	The aim of this course is to inform the students about the origins of alphabet, historical writing systems of Turkic languages, date of the Turkic texts which was written by Arabic alphabet, Arabic-Turkic alphabet and classical Ottoman ortography which was developed in late Ottoman period. Special emphasis will be upon the ortographic peculiarities of the words and morphems.
Course Content	This course focuses on aslî and zâid letters, aksam-ı seb’a words, various forms of words, izafets, postpositions and compound forms that were transferred from Arabic to Ottoman Turkish. Reading and writing exercises will be done on old scripts regarding Arabic words and Arabic style.

Uses the theoretical and practical savings of the field of Turkish language and literature in the research and analysis process.
Identifies and defines problems related to the field of Turkish language and literature and offers solutions to them.
Explain the universal and social effects and legal consequences of field execution.
Reads, transcribes, translates to Turkish and examines the written texts of the historical and contemporary dialects of the Turkish language, written in different alphabets.
Analyzes the oral-written, verse and prose texts of the Turkish language and literature in terms of language science methods and literary theories.
Selects and applies analysis and modeling methods suitable for problems relevant to the field of Turkish language and literature.
It effectively uses information technologies together with modern tools in field applications.
Designs a research on the chosen subject, collects the necessary data and analyzes the results.
Archives the data of the prepared project and the conducted research.
Individually, conducts research, applications and projects related to the field.
Students take responsibility as team members in research, application and project related to their field.
