Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	The course describes that the origin of all folklore culture beginning from archaic mythology legends, adventure stories, ceremonial folklore to riddle is a mythology.
Course Content	It is shown that the reasons of forming of the world model of Turkish mythology, the factors certified categories of mythologies and the mythological views of real thinking system by symbols are all interrelated as whole.

Learning Outcomes

Explains the historical development of Turkish language and literature according to countries and ecoles.
Introduces "well-known personalities in the historical period and fields of Turkish literature" and their works from the first examples to the present.
Describes the relationship between language and literary theories and other disciplines.
Evaluates the works of Turkish language and literature in various periods and fields in terms of Turkish cultural history.
Evaluates the fields and ecoles of the field within its historical depth and geographical width.
Follows bibliography of studies on Turkish language and literature in written, printed and virtual platforms.
Defines and interprets a work or process related to the field and solves the encountered problems with contemporary methods.
Examines the works related to the field according to comparative language and literature methods.

Reads, transcribes, translates to Turkish and examines the written texts of the historical and contemporary dialects of the Turkish language, written in different alphabets.

Selects and applies analysis and modeling methods suitable for problems relevant to the field of Turkish language and literature.

Weekly Course Subjects

1	The descending of the Turks from wolf. Spreading, the first time, the Turk legends in the Middle East. The descending of the Toles from male Turks. The discussion about the descending of the Gokturks from Turks.
2	Oguz tribes’ birds onguns. The discussion about ceremonial dressing and horse sanctuary.
3	The discussion about Ergenekon legend. The ideas about the translation of the Ergenekon legend. The legend about descending of the Uygurs. The descending of the Uygurs from trees.
4	Oguz epics in Uygur. Oguz epics in Persian. General discussion about the Oguz
5	Hannaneme. The legendary Ozbek and Hazar Hans. Discussion about Kiyat Han and his origin
6	Creation myths. The Yakut Turks and creation. Discussion on Altay-Turk cozmogoni
7	The Turk-Memluks’ creation myth. The creation of `Ay-Atam` from mud. Four elements and creation.
8	Foreign legends and the Turks.
9	Midterm
10	Discussion on denying totemiz in the Turk mythology. The cults in the Turks’ mythology.
11	The legendary of Manas. The Turks and Mogol mythology. The descending myth about the Kitans.
12	The legend of Er Tonga. Introducing Iranian culture to the Turks.
13	The Tepegoz in the Middle East and Anadolu. Some motivations of the Tepegoz stories.
14	General Revision.
