Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The course describes that the origin of all folklore culture beginning from archaic mythology legends, adventure stories, ceremonial folklore to riddle is a mythology.
Course Content It is shown that the reasons of forming of the world model of Turkish mythology, the factors certified categories of mythologies and the mythological views of real thinking system by symbols are all interrelated as whole.

Weekly Course Subjects

1The descending of the Turks from wolf. Spreading, the first time, the Turk legends in the Middle East. The descending of the Toles from male Turks. The discussion about the descending of the Gokturks from Turks.
2Oguz tribes’ birds onguns. The discussion about ceremonial dressing and horse sanctuary.
3The discussion about Ergenekon legend. The ideas about the translation of the Ergenekon legend. The legend about descending of the Uygurs. The descending of the Uygurs from trees.
4Oguz epics in Uygur. Oguz epics in Persian. General discussion about the Oguz
5Hannaneme. The legendary Ozbek and Hazar Hans. Discussion about Kiyat Han and his origin
6Creation myths. The Yakut Turks and creation. Discussion on Altay-Turk cozmogoni
7The Turk-Memluks’ creation myth. The creation of `Ay-Atam` from mud. Four elements and creation.
8Foreign legends and the Turks.
9Midterm
10Discussion on denying totemiz in the Turk mythology. The cults in the Turks’ mythology.
11The legendary of Manas. The Turks and Mogol mythology. The descending myth about the Kitans.
12The legend of Er Tonga. Introducing Iranian culture to the Turks.
13The Tepegoz in the Middle East and Anadolu. Some motivations of the Tepegoz stories.
