Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	The aim of this course is to study the very early works of Turkish Literature called “epics” in terms of their subjects and relations with other genres, to introduce some crucial historical Turkish epics regarding with historical events and to compare the epics with tales and folktales in a detailed way.
Course Content	Turkish Folk Literature’s appearance in history, epics’ subjects and conditions of occuring, relation of epic with other genres, importance of ‘epic’, Saka epics, Hun-Oguz Epics, Gokturk Epics, Nine-Oguz, Ten-Uygur Epics, Turkish Epics of Islamic era, epics made due to some historical and social events, characteristics of tales, sources, studies on tales, tales’ relation with other genres, tale book examples from various countries, Turkish tale books, examining tale texts, characteristics of folktales, folktales’ relation with other genres, examining folktales, the Book of Dede Korkut, Tahir and Zuhre, Kerem and Aslı and comparing them are the contents of the course.

The aim of the course

Course Content

Learning Outcomes

Explains the historical development of Turkish language and literature according to countries and ecoles.
Introduces "well-known personalities in the historical period and fields of Turkish literature" and their works from the first examples to the present.
Describes the relationship between language and literary theories and other disciplines.
Evaluates the works of Turkish language and literature in various periods and fields in terms of Turkish cultural history.
Evaluates the fields and ecoles of the field within its historical depth and geographical width.
Follows bibliography of studies on Turkish language and literature in written, printed and virtual platforms.
Defines and interprets a work or process related to the field and solves the encountered problems with contemporary methods.
Examines the works related to the field according to comparative language and literature methods.
Uses the theoretical and practical savings of the field of Turkish language and literature in the research and analysis process.
Identifies and defines problems related to the field of Turkish language and literature and offers solutions to them.
Explain the universal and social effects and legal consequences of field execution.
Reads, transcribes, translates to Turkish and examines the written texts of the historical and contemporary dialects of the Turkish language, written in different alphabets.
Analyzes the oral-written, verse and prose texts of the Turkish language and literature in terms of language science methods and literary theories.
Selects and applies analysis and modeling methods suitable for problems relevant to the field of Turkish language and literature.
It effectively uses information technologies together with modern tools in field applications.
Designs a research on the chosen subject, collects the necessary data and analyzes the results.
Archives the data of the prepared project and the conducted research.
Individually, conducts research, applications and projects related to the field.
Students take responsibility as team members in research, application and project related to their field.
Students evaluate the knowledge and skills they gained in the field with a critical approach.
Acts according to professional ethics and professional responsibility awareness.
Students explore current issues such as lifelong learning, environmental problems, economy and sustainability.
Students manage the process of learning and converting what they learned into a product.
Prepare a written text on various topics related to the literary field.
Checks a written text in terms of language and expression.
