Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of this course is to examine the rising of modern Turkic literary languages and to analyse the textual examples of modern Azerbaijan, Uzbek and Kazakh languages in terms of linguistics and grammatical structure.
Course Content History of modern Turkic literary languages, textual examples of modern Turkic literary languages, modern Azerbaijan, Uzbek and Kazakh languages are examined.

Weekly Course Subjects

1The Azerbaijan, Uzbek and Kazakh languages. Reading and writing.
2Phonology. Vowels. Classification of vowels. Vovel Harmony. Consonants. Consonant harmony. Phonetic changes.
3Deriving nouns from nouns and functions of denominal suffixes.
4Deriving nouns from verbs and functions of denominal suffixes.
5Deriving verb from verb, voice suffixes in Azerbaijan, Uzbek and Kazakh languages and their functions.
6Deriving verb from noun and functions of deverbal suffixes.
7Practices on the deriving suffixes.
8Practices on the deriving suffixes.
9Midterm.
10Inflectional suffixes and their functions. Activities on translation.
11Declension and copula. Activities on translation.
12Conjugation; modality-tense-aspect and agreement; indicative. Activities on translation.
13Imperative, desiderative, optative and necessitative in Turkish. Activities on translation.
14Personal endings, their varieties and functions. Activities on translation.
